COVID-19 Relief activities

  • Making Face Mask through 4 women SHGs
  • Distributed Face mask to 500 families
  • Distributed Homeopathic pills called Arsenicum Album-30 to 1200 families
  • Distributed Kabasura Kudineer, Nilavaembu Kudineer and Herbal Tea in sidha discipline to 500 families
  • Distributed Food materials ( 10 kg rice, 1 kg dal, 1kg wheat flour per family) to 100 women SHG members.

Home for Homeless (Shelter)

A donor organisation based in Belgium is extending their real helping hands to construct forty five houses to the homeless women who are mostly marginalized in the local community and daily wage worker.  In the year 2024, with financial assistance of donor organisation Belgium, Tamil Nadu People Welfare Association had constructed 45 homeless women from two villages. The total estimate of housing construction USD 1, 02,600. Donor organisation Contribution USD 81,000.

Already, TAPWA had constructed 143 free houses to the disadvantaged and neglected women-headed families.

Programme for aged

TAPWA has been delivering nutrient food and medical care, kinder, and support to the 50 rural poor elders. Elderly persons lead a healthy and satisfying life with the feeling that they are taken care of.

Eco-friendly programmes

Foct Programme ( Friends of Coconut Tree)

As for, Coconut cultivation, the Dindigul district is third-ranked in Tamil Nadu. But, due to an acute shortage of hands for Coconut harvesting, small and marginal farmers are facing untold misery.

To Overcome this issue, TAPWA conducts FoCT ( Friends of Coconut Tree) training with the support of the Coconut Development Board, Government of India.

Vermin Compost Making

Most of the women in our target area rear milch cows. TAPWA aims to manage solid waste and increase their income level. So,TAPWA organizes vermin compost-making training through which, milch cow rearers’ income level is increased.

Health  Programmes

First Aid centre

The interior hamlets in service areas of TAPWA are lacking health care centers and the people are unable to receive First Aid services even during emergency situations. TAPWA has established First aid centers in 15 selected interior hamlets.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme

Every year, TAPWA has celebrated AIDS awareness events on the eve of World AIDS Day, December 1.

Since 2020, organized the  Awareness programs to instruct truck drivers, cleaners, youth, migrant workers on safe sexual practices and motivate HIV testing and treatment.

Reproductive health programme

TAPWA is organizing reproductive health programs for women of multiple SHGs every year and thus far, 420 women have been educated on pertinent reproductive health issues including Menstrual hygiene, Abortion and family planning options, Anti-natal care (ANC), and Post-natal care (PNC).

Children’s rights have been promoted and protected by TAPWA, such us

  • The right to survive
  • Right to develop
  • Right to protect
  • Right to participate

Through awareness generation,

Children’s collectives, legal actions, public hearings, resource creations, distribution of IEC materials, lobby, and advocacy were initiated that enhanced the leadership skills. TAPWA has reduced child sexual abuse, child trafficking, and bondage labor.

Women Rights Programmes

TAPWA aimed at women’s advancement in different spheres organizes gender sensitization training in its target area.

In which, rural men are sensitized about the role of women in the development of society and the opportunities to be given to women for achieving equality in the society.

Child Empowerment Programmes

Special Education Programme for differently-abled

For overcome the depression and face their life crisis with positive thoughts and self-confidence,

  • Monthly once counseling session taught the cognitive skills and coping mechanism
  • Provided health treatment camp and prescribed medicines
  • Conducted special program to bring their innate talents out

Apart from that,

Educational and playing materials were provided

School Enrollment Campaign 

Since access to primary education is a fundamental right of every child, TAPWA undertakes a school enrollment campaign every year prior to school reopening time with the involvement of women SHG members.

The Campaign is aiming at

  • Reduction of dropout
  • Enhancement of enrollment rate
  • Motivation of parents on the importance of education
  • Mainstreaming of all children
  • Promotion of Students, parents and teachers relationship

Sports Activities

To ensure body and mind development TAPWA conducts sports activities for the evening tuition center students, primary schools students, and Government higher secondary school students at Pallaptty. Competitions conduct in the age group of 11-16 years old. 60 to 75 students have participated every year. The prizes are distributed to the winners and runners.

Women Self Help Group Management

To develop thrift and savings habits among the rural poor women they are engaged as landless laborers and to create a sense of solidarity, such 1400 women have been mobilized in Nilakottai taluk of Dindigul district, among them 110 Women SHGs have formed and led.

Dependents as Entrepreneurs

To change their dependent and hopeless life with their insufficient income, TAPWA has linked the women’s SHGs with financial Institutions to avail them financial assistance as micro-credit. To create “Dependents as Entrepreneurs.”

Now, they are able to educate their offspring without any financial hesitations.
